Formerly called “Formosa” or
Beautiful Island by the Portuguese, the island of Taiwan is endowed
with a wide-variety of breathtaking natural scenery, from sublime
Taroko Gorge to the coral reefs and beaches of Kenting. Having
established itself as a stronghold of the IT industry since the
90’s, Taiwan is ranked the fourth among the world’s
top suppliers of information products in 2004. This conference
will match the mainstream of Taiwan hi-tech to the prominent innovative
researches, providing a bridge between the state of systems technology
and the best engineering practice.
Theme
Emerging Information Technology for Human-Machine Systems
and Cybernetics
SMC 2006 strives to bring together people in the area of SMC to
provide an international forum for the reporting of current developments,
to summarize the state-of-the-art, and to exchange new ideas and
advances on all aspects of systems engineering, human machine
interfaces, and emerging cybernetics. In recent years, a trend
has emerged in which bio-inspired intelligence plays a key role
in these aspects to pursue for novel technology. The resulting
techniques vitalize life science engineering and daily life applications.
In light of this trend, the theme for this conference is Emerging
Information Technology for Human-Machine Systems and Cybernetics.
Papers related to this theme are especially solicited, including
theories, methodologies, and applications of intelligent systems
in science, technology, security, education etc.
