T'ang Tri-Color with Chinese Knots

T'ang tri-color ware is an art form which embodies the finest in T'ang sculpture, painting and ceramic technology. Its realistic and highly mature modeling technique produces compellingly lifelike forms, while its palette of colored glazes -- green, white, fellow, blue -- are fluently applied to create effects of dazzling beauty. Other decorative techniques such as embossing, stippling and carving are also applied with great skill. The sublime artistry and rich content of T'ang tri-color ware make it a highlight of Chinese ceramics history beasts, civil officials, military officers, devas, court ladies and central Asian figurines, as well as vessels for everyday use, flower vases and jars. Highly prized and popular favorites the world over, these works are major treasures of Chinese material culture.

Chinese Knot is a type of national handicrafts with long history and profound cultural connotations. Appeared in ancient time, developed in Tang and Song Dynasty (960-1229A.D.)and popularized in Ming and Qing Dynasty (1368-1911A.D.) Chinese Knot has now become a kind of elegant and colorful arts and crafts from its original practical use. In Chinese language, "knot" has the meanings of reunion, friendliness, warm, marriage, love etc. In addition, "knot" and "luck, felicity" have the same pronunciation, so chinese knots are often used to express some good wish including happy,prosper,love and no evil.
