Brief
Bios
Dr.
Keith W. Hipel is Professor of Systems Design Engineering
at the University of Waterloo where he is the Coordinator of the
Conflict Analysis Group. His major research interests are the
development of conflict resolution and time series analysis techniques
from a systems design engineering perspective with applications
to water resources management, hydrology, environmental engineering
and sustainable development. Dr. Hipel is Fellow of the Royal
Society of Canada (FRSC), Canadian Academy of Engineering (FCAE),
Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (FIEEE), Engineering
Institute of Canada (FEIC), and the American Water Resources Association
(FAWRA). He is also a recipient of many other awards including
the Norbert Wiener Award from the IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics
(SMC) Society, and the Canada Council Killam Research Fellowship. |

Dr.
Mo Jamshidi is the Lutcher Brown Endowed Chaired professor
at the University of Texas, San Antonio, TX, USA. He has also
been the founding Director of Center for Autonomous Control Engineering
(ACE) at the University of New Mexico, and moved the Center to
University of Texas, San Antonio in 2006. He is also the Regents
Professor Emeritus of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and
the AT&T Professor Emeritus of Manufacturing Engineering at
UNM. He was IEEE SMC VP for Conferences, EIC, IEEE Control Systems
Magazine (198084), and EIC of the IEEE Systems Journal (to be
inaugurated for IEEE Systems Council). Dr. Jamshidi holds 3 honorary
doctoral degrees from Canada, Greece and Azerbaijan and has been
honored by other organizations, including being elected a Fellow
of the IEEE, ASME, AAAS and TWAS. |

Dr.
James M. Tien, currently the Yamada Corporation Professor,
joined the Department of Electrical, Computer and Systems Engineering
at Rensselaer in 1977, served as Acting Chair of the department,
became the founding Chair of a unique interdisciplinary Department
of Decision Sciences and Engineering Systems, and twice served
as the Acting Dean of Engineering. The 1990-1991 IEEE SMC Society
President, Dr. Tien has been honored with both teaching and research
awards, including being elected a Fellow in IEEE, INFORMS and
AAAS and a member of the U. S. National Academy of Engineering. |

Dr.
Chelsea C. White is the H. Milton and Carolyn J. Stewart
School Chair of the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial &
Systems Engineering and holds the Schneider National Chair of
Transportation and Logistics at the Georgia Institute of Technology,
where he is the Director of the Trucking Industry Program (TIP)
and the former Executive Director of The Logistics Institute.
He has previously served as department chair of Systems Engineering
at the University of Virginia, department chair of Industrial
and Operations Engineering at the UM, and Senior Associate Dean
at the UM. His former involvement within the IEEE includes serving
as President of the SMC Society from 1992 through 1993. He received
the Norbert Wiener Award in 1999 and the Joseph G. Wohl Outstanding
Career Award in 2005, both from the IEEE SMC Society, and an IEEE
Third Millennium Medal. The Norbert Wiener Award is the SMC’s
highest award recognizing lifetime contributions in research.
He is a Fellow of the IEEE, a former member of the Executive Board
of CIEADH (Council of Industrial Engineering Department Heads),
and the founding chair of the IEEE TAB Committee on ITS. |
